A New Vision for Metal Recycling in the Waterloo RegionWednesday, February 14, 2024
|
||
Since 1880, we have continually sought to meet the recycling needs of the ever-evolving Waterloo region. Starting off as rag and bone recycling during the Grand Trunk era, moving through glass, paper, cardboard and then metal recycling, our goal has always been to provide our community with a clean, safe, reliable, and modern recycling experience that grew with the needs of the residents, small and large businesses, government, and industry that help shape the place we call home.
By now you will have seen the construction on Lancaster St and might be curious as to what exactly is happening with our metal recycling facility there! Here’s what is in store!
One-stop recycling: Everyone will be able to bring everything to one site to be weighed, graded, and paid!
Covered Inbound and Outbound Scale: We will have two 80ft scales so we can accommodate any vehicle or transport option for your scrap AND make sure on-site traffic nor weather impacts your visit.
Fully concreted facility: Our facility will have concrete to facilitate organization, cleanliness, processing, and ease of loading and unloading of your recycled metals. We want to make sure that your boots and tires are as clean going into the yard as they are coming out.
Drive-through non-ferrous recycling: Enjoy a seamless non-ferrous recycling experience in a HEATED facility where you will be able to unload your material and get your receiving slip in the comfort of our new spacious warehouse.
ATM payments: Grab your ticket and get paid right away or batch them together and get paid when it is easiest for you. The convenience of the ATM means you can continue to do your work first and get paid at a more convenient time for you! Global Reach with a Local Touch
We are Open During Construction
We are committed to providing a great metal recycling experience during the construction and are fully open at both locations while the changes are taking place! We are still accepting scrap metal at both locations during our business hours which are Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Bins Available for RentTuesday, May 8, 2018
|
||
Rent a Bin From Us!
Scrap bin, recycling bin, waste bin, garbage dumpster, dumpster bin… we call them by many different names, but their function remains the same: a place for you to put your waste or scrap material. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few different options. We have hundreds of bins for rent and many different sized and styles to choose from. No matter the job, we will have the solution that works best for you. Roll Off Bins
Sizes: 12yd, 20yd, 30yd, 40yd
Roll off bins are the most popular style for both scrap bins and waste bins. They are the ones you most often see on construction sites, driveways and in fab shops. Why? They have several advantages:
We also have enclosed roll-off style bins (often called compactor bins). Typically, these bins are used for hauling asbestos from a job site. They are also great for temporarily storing high value material outside or tools as they can be locked to ensure they are sealed and secure from outside tampering.
Check out our bin sizes to see which one would work best for you.
Lugger Bins
Sizes: 10yd, 12yd, 14yd, 20yd
Lugger style bins have sloped walls that encourage material to fall to the centre of the bin. They also have a smaller footprint than the roll-offs. Their flat bottom and loading method makes them perfect candidates for placing them on surfaces like asphalt. The bin’s size and shape make it practical for many applications like:
Totes
Sizes: 4’x4’, 5’ x 5’
Totes are the perfect tool for keeping your work area’s high value materials separated and secure in your shop. Also, for smaller machining shops in industrial parks that only have enough room for a small bin for the cut offs or turnings. They are big enough to hold the material, while small enough to be easily handled by your forklift.
Hoppers
Sizes: 1/4yd, 1/2yd, 3/4yd, 1 yd
The perfect tool for collecting material along a production line or at separate stations before dumping it into a bin. The hopper fits perfectly onto your forklift and has a chain mechanism that unlatches the bin so that the material only releases into the bin when you want it to.
What are you waiting for?
Whether you are considering a recycling program for your scrap material, need a scrap bin for a clean up. Whether you need an asbestos bin, a dumpster for a renovation or have a multiple waste bin demolition job, we are here to help you. Give us a call or request a quote and let us know what you are looking for so we can provide the best solution for you! |

Ferrous (Steel) Market Update - April 27, 2018Friday, April 27, 2018
|
||
Happy Friday!
What a difference a week makes – last week we were experience mid-winter weather and based on my phone’s weather app, we may be breaking 20 degrees next week!
With spring comes the eventual market pricing ‘corrections’ in the ferrous world. Based on the headline in today’s American Metal Market, May looks to be a softer month for steel pricing. Although the article references US based mills, what happens south of the border influences what happens here.
Per American Metal Market's article, we are now anticipating an adjustment of $10 - $25 on most ferrous prices for May. This still means that ferrous pricing is exceptionally strong – however, if you are using numbers for quoting purposes, I would suggest that you make some adjustments for next month downward.
Naturally, if you have any questions on the market, please reach out. We likely will not get firm numbers until the second week of May, but we will get better guidance from our consumers over the next week or so.
If you are looking to set up a recycling program or need some more information, don't hesitate to give us a call! We are here to help you!
Enjoy the weekend and the summer weather next week.
Cheers! |

Metal Prices Continue to Defy GravitySunday, April 8, 2018
|
||
A brief market snapshot for April 2018, as the head line suggests, is that still pays to recycle your scrap metal with Joseph & Company!
The stock market has been all over the place the past few weeks with the news of trade wars and Nafta negotiation. But a stable part of the market, for all the market noise, is base metal pricing.
As the April ferrous (steel) market settles, it looks like scrap steel prices are staying strong for another month!
Non-ferrous metals, such as copper, brass and aluminum, have softened from their recent highs, but are still at great prices.
Give us a call to find out what we can offer you for your scrap metal.
I’m sure that you will be pleased with the prices and service that we can off you or your business. |
